THE BAND

The pop / dance-pop band THE ROOP was formed in Vilnius, Lithuania in 2014 by singer Vaidotas Valiukevičius, drummer Robertas Baranauskas, and guitarist Mantas Banišauskas. With different performing experiences the group began writing music that appealed to their tastes, their beliefs, and creating music videos that would send important messages to the world.

THE ROOP band name comes from an archaic English word "to roop" meaning "to cry out", "to shout out", "make a great noise". THE ROOP works touch on social topics by invoking music, images and other mediums.

The band became widely known after participating in the Lithuanian Eurovision National Selection in 2018 with the song “Yes, I Do”. The esthetic, stylish and emotional performance helped them to 3rd place in the competition.

In 2020 Lithuanian choice for the Eurovision song contest – “On Fire” – gained huge numbers of fans worldwide. The videos of “On Fire” have over 30 million views and the number keeps growing. Even though the band couldn’t participate in the main Eurovision event because of the pandemic, they unanimously won most of the alternative online Eurovision song contests and took 1st place in the alternative German Eurovision TV live show.

THE ROOP entered the National Eurovision Selection again in 2021 with “Discoteque“ and won the jury vote and televote by a landslide. THE ROOP "Discoteque" was one of the public favorites, qualified from Semi-Final, and finished #8 in the Grand Final of Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam.

DISCOGRAPHY

THE ROOP spent almost four years in the studio looking for that perfect sound – writing 50 songs in the process before finally deciding on 10 good enough for their debut album “To Whom It May Concern”, released in 2015. An extra touch was added by Australian Leon Zervos – top mastering engineer from Studios 301 (Sydney) who has worked with INXS, Aerosmith, Muse, Coldplay and many other music's biggest names.

The second album “Ghosts” came out in 2017. Some singles became very popular: the dreamy “Dream On”, open and intimate “Keista Draugystė” and “Hello” – most famous for its bold video picturing real people and their life stories.

Third record – EP “Yes, I Do” – was released in 2018. It was called after a song the band wrote for the Eurovision Lithuania National Selection where they stood out and won the public's heart. The EP consists of 5 solid songs, among which are “Yes, I Do” and a duet featuring singer Migloko – “UFO”.

“Concrete Flower - released May 11, 2022 - contains the latest "Let's Get Naked", hits "On Fire", "Discoteque", "Love Is All We Got", and fresh unheard songs.
